Wichita State University (WSU) in Wichita, Kansas is now offering badge courses (short online courses for practicing professionals). Our badge course on Blood Flow Restriction (pBFR) is being offered through WSU's biomedical engineering department and taught by pBFR technology expert Chris Deck, PT, MA, MBA. Scholarships are now available to cover the cost of this course.

Scholarship Information

Enrollment is now open for the fall semester! Apply, be admitted and enroll in a badge course by Monday, September 9, 2019 to be eligible for a scholarship for one badge course (fall semester only).

Worried about not having enough time? No worries. You can start this online badge course at any time during the fall 2019 semester, and it will only take about 11 hours of direct instruction time to complete. Online badge courses not only provide you with college credit, but also they count for CEUs*, and you will receive a digital badge upon successful completion that you can display on your social media accounts to demonstrate your proficiency in pBFR. Feel free to share this information with other physical therapists that you know.  

You can begin badge courses between August 19 – November 19.  All badge coursework must be complete by December 5.

This one-day interactive course will feature a consortium of regional expert speakers in the field of dance medicine. The course will provide attendees with specific, evidence-based evaluation and treatment strategies to provide physical therapists and athletic trainers with a comprehensive approach to evaluating and treating dancers backstage and in the clinic. 

The day will consist of both didactic lectures and laboratory break-out sessions to enhance understanding and allow for dynamic interaction among course attendees.  The main goal for this course is for attendees to be able to return to their clinics with specific clinical and programmatic tools to successfully enrich their care of dancers backstage, in the clinic, and in their community. The course, sponsored by the Division of Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, is part of our ongoing education services to therapists both in our community and nationwide.

*Two tickets to The Kaplan New Works Series presented by the Cincinnati Ballet will be given away to a lucky in-person attendee! The show is at 8pm on Saturday Sept 14th following the conference.

Willy

FACULTY: Rich Willy, PT, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Montana. He holds a PhD in Biomechanics and Movement Science from the University of Delaware where he trained under Irene Davis. His research interests include developing clinically-relevant evaluation and intervention strategies to reduce the risk of injury in runners and tactical athletes. He also researches how to best address aberrant movement strategies that may impair gait, especially as it applies to physical activity across the lifespan.
